AbslomRob's Watch Collection

Benrus Dress Auto (FE-2D1)

I got this watch in a lot of watches I purchased in a "Buy It Now" EBay auction. The lot claimed to contain a Waltham that appeared to be a very nice gents Day/Date model, but the pictures were fuzzy. Still, it was cheap and I wanted to take advantage of it, so I pulled the trigger. Bad move on the Waltham side; it was a very ugly quartz watch from nearly two decades after Waltham went bankrupt. But the lot also contained this beauty. I immediately liked the simple black face, but I couldn't see the movement because at the time I didn't have a crystal lift to get the movement out of the one-piece case. It was also missing the crown and stem-side of the two-piece stem. I hate mysteries though, so I broke down and got a crystal lift, and was thrilled by the rose gold plated automatic movement hidden inside. And as it turned out, I had obtained a suitable stem and crown in a lot of parts that I'd purchased a few weeks before. Everything just came together on this one, and its one of my favorite wristwatchs.
