AbslomRob's Watch Collection

The original Colonial line was, I believe, launched in the 20's, and represented a shift to in-house casing (which was probably necessiated by the increased market share of wristwatches causing jewelers to resist having to stock both movements and cases seperately). From what I've read, the size of the colonial was specific to this brand.

After WWII, they resurrected this line, probably hoping to appeal to older purchasers or those looking to relive the glory days of watches. Or more likely because Waltham managment wanted to eke a few more coins out of some of their aging manufacturing machines.

The design of this watch is simply a resized model 1888, right down to the keyless works. There's a bit of bridge modification, but nothing exotic.
